This political drama chronicles the communal violence of August 1946, when riots erupted in Calcutta and spread through Bengal, examining these pivotal events leading up to India's independence and partition. The film interweaves this historical tragedy with a contemporary storyline involving a criminal investigator pursuing a missing person case that exposes a corruption network. At over three hours long, it is the concluding installment in director Vivek Agnihotri's trilogy of films exploring modern Indian history.
