Directed by Bharathiraja, this 1996 Tamil political drama follows Tamizh Selvan, an idealistic civil servant who rises from assistant collector to chief collector despite facing bias and hostility from a corrupt superior. As he marries a fellow scholar and earns public admiration for standing up for exploited workers against a politician's illegal mining operation, he draws the ire of powerful figures determined to undermine him. The film stars Vijayakanth and Roja and was a commercial failure upon release.
