A successful doctor struggles with his marriage and is haunted by a past love, eventually developing a dissociative condition in which he assumes another identity. As psychiatrists investigate his psychological breakdown, they uncover the suppressed emotions and unresolved grief underlying his mental distress, revealing how his personal sacrifices and emotional unavailability have fractured his sense of self.
