Sukrutham follows Ravishankar, a journalist diagnosed with a terminal blood disorder, as he tries to put his affairs in order so that the people around him will be less affected by his impending death. He returns to his ancestral village, where his cousin and childhood love, Durga, looks after him, even as he also encourages his wife to lean on a close friend for support. His outlook shifts when a doctor persuades him to try an unconventional holistic therapy centered on the idea that the body's own cells determine its fate.
