This 1977 Telugu drama follows Hyma, a mute young woman devoted to dance, who suffers mistreatment at the hands of her stepmother, who instead hopes to push her own daughter into film stardom. An orphaned man named Sambayya cares for Hyma and protects her from being exploited, and after her father dies he brings her to the city, where she supports them both by performing at a dance venue while he struggles with illness.
