A former ambulance driver is released on temporary parole after fourteen years in prison to see his ailing father and estranged daughter, who resents him over his conviction and her mother's death. His homecoming coincides with the murder of a local political figure, drawing a police officer into an investigation that gradually uncovers hidden ties between the killing and the paroled man's past. As more deaths follow, the inquiry pushes deeper into buried secrets connected to his imprisonment years earlier.
