Singularity

This 2013 Belgian-produced romantic adventure, later retitled The Lovers, follows a present-day marine archeologist who falls into a coma after a diving accident tied to his wife's disappearance at a colonial shipwreck. While unconscious, he envisions a parallel story from 1778 India, where a British officer becomes entangled in a forbidden love with a Maratha warrior woman amid the tensions of the first Anglo-Maratha war. The narrative weaves between these two eras and continents to explore a connection between the modern couple and the historical lovers.
