This 1966 Telugu mythological drama, directed by and starring N. T. Rama Rao in the dual roles of Krishna and Duryodhana, retells episodes from the Mahabharata centered on the youth of the Pandavas and Krishna's early exploits. It covers Duryodhana's cruelty toward Sakuni's family, the Pandavas' narrow escape from the burning wax house engineered by the Kauravas, Bhima's encounter with the demoness Hidimbi, and Krishna's courtship and elopement with Rukmini despite rivals' opposition. The film also features S. Varalakshmi, Uday Kumar, and K. R. Vijaya in her Telugu debut, with music by T. V. Raju.
