This 1960 Hindi drama follows Shekhar, a college student from a struggling family, who marries Bela, a wealthy classmate, after her father approves of his character and asks him to live with her family as a resident son-in-law. Life with his in-laws seems settled until suspicions and misunderstandings involving his cousin's stolen necklace, a rumored affair, and missing money begin to strain the marriage. The story is a remake of a 1959 Telugu film and features music by Shankar–Jaikishan.
