Samudram is a 1999 Telugu action drama directed by Krishna Vamsi, centered on Sagar, a young man imprisoned for murder, whose story is told through flashbacks to his life with his widowed mother, sister and friends. It traces his long-running conflict with a criminal family involved in smuggling and local politics, and a dedicated police officer's efforts to curb their wrongdoing, which sets off a chain of betrayal and false accusations. The film also follows a constable who grows suspicious of the circumstances surrounding a colleague's death and begins investigating the truth.
