This 1958 Telugu mythological drama retells Valmiki's Ramayana in full, following the divine birth of Rama and his brothers to King Dasaratha, his marriage to Sita after breaking Shiva's bow, and his exile into the forest following a court intrigue involving Queen Kaikeyi. It continues through Sita's abduction by the demon king Ravana, Rama's alliance with Hanuman and the Vanara army, and the eventual march toward Lanka to rescue her. The film stars N. T. Rama Rao as Rama and Sivaji Ganesan as Bharata.
