This 1988 Hindi family drama follows Gopi, a boy separated from his mother Ganga after his father is falsely imprisoned and he is abducted and later abandoned, growing up under the influence of a criminal mentor. As an adult he becomes a small-time thief who is banished from Bombay and travels to Devipur, where he reconnects unknowingly with figures from his past while uncovering corrupt dealings run by a local power broker. A police inspector who once arrested him is transferred to the same town, and the two end up investigating the same web of crime and hidden identities.
