This Hindi drama follows Bhanu, a man consumed by lingering anger over a family tragedy that befell his sister Yashoda, who channels his resentment into an annual bullock-cart race against his former in-laws, always won by his loyal friend Mahipal. Bhanu's life shifts when he becomes infatuated with Jalima, a traveling performer he and Mahipal encounter on the road, even as Mahipal grows wary of her and her brother Baldev. Directed by Priyadarshan as a Hindi remake of his own earlier Malayalam film, it marked Arvind Swamy's entry into Bollywood alongside Juhi Chawla.
