This Hindi action film centers on Shiva, a Mumbai petty thief who falls for a woman named Paro and gets unexpectedly saddled with a young girl, Chinki, who mistakes him for her father. The confusion arises because Shiva is a physical double for ASP Vikram Rathore, an upright policeman targeted by a ruthless gangster and his son, and the two men's fates become intertwined as danger closes in on Shiva. Directed by Prabhu Deva and led by Akshay Kumar in a double role, the story is a remake of an earlier Telugu film built around mistaken identity and revenge.
