This 2010 Hindi action-adventure, directed by Mani Ratnam, reimagines the Ramayana story through the eyes of a tribal rebel leader who abducts the wife of a determined police officer hunting him through the forest. As the pursuit unfolds, the captive woman begins to understand the personal tragedy and injustice that drove her captor to his outlaw life, complicating the line between villain and victim. The film was shot simultaneously in a Tamil version with a partly different cast, and features music by A. R. Rahman.
