Prem Shakti is a 1994 Hindi fantasy-romance in which two young lovers, forbidden to marry, elope and stumble into the lair of a malevolent sorcerer who is trying to force a mystical serpent deity to hand over a gem needed for an immortality potion, obtainable only once every twenty-five years under a full moon. The couple intervenes to thwart the sorcerer's scheme, setting off a supernatural conflict that stretches across time and multiple rebirths. The film, directed by Shibu Mitra and starring Govinda and Karishma Kapoor, marked the start of their frequent on-screen pairing.
