Set in small-town India, this 1967 Hindi romantic drama follows close friends Meena and Taruna, who both fall for Rajesh, a new estate manager hired by Meena's wealthy widowed father. Their playful rivalry turns into real affection, complicating family loyalties and old promises, including Taruna's childhood betrothal to a scheming local contractor. Hidden family secrets involving Rajesh's mother further tangle the relationships as the story builds toward a dramatic confrontation.
