Set in a royal court in northern Kerala, this 1982 Malayalam period drama follows a favored young prince chosen as heir over his elder cousin, sparking jealousy and a conspiracy among scheming courtiers who frame him for treachery. Betrayed and sold into slavery, he eventually escapes and builds a new identity as a wealthy trader, setting the stage for a return home to confront those who wronged his family. Loosely inspired by Alexandre Dumas's The Count of Monte Cristo, the film was directed by Jijo Punnoose and produced under the Navodaya banner, featuring an ensemble cast including Prem Nazir, Madhu, Lakshmi, Mammootty, and Mohanlal.
