This 1978 Telugu drama follows Malli, a bright sixteen-year-old village girl who dreams of becoming a teacher after finishing school with top marks. Her plans are upended when she falls for a seemingly well-off visiting veterinarian, only to discover his true intentions, and she must then navigate family loss and unwanted attention from a local troublemaker, with her simple-hearted cousin Gopalakrishna emerging as an unexpected source of support. Directed by K. Raghavendra Rao and starring Sridevi, Chandra Mohan and Mohan Babu, it was a remake of a Tamil film released the previous year.
