Paarai is a 2003 Tamil action drama about Durairaj, a hardened lorry driver whose closest bond is with his good-natured cleaner Jayaram. After Jayaram dies in an accident, Durai travels to his friend's village to help his grieving family and honor his wish of building them a home, only to run into a manipulative local landlord who exploits the villagers. As Durai settles into village life, he grows close to a sharp-tongued tea-shop owner while tensions escalate between him and the landlord's family.
