Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha

Set in 12th-century northern Kerala, this film reimagines a subplot from the medieval Vadakkan Pattukal ballads, centering on Chandu, an orphaned boy raised by his uncle Kannappan Chekavar alongside his resentful cousin Aromal. As they grow into skilled martial artists trained in the Chekavar tradition, rivalry and unspoken love entangle Chandu with his cousin's sister Unniyarcha and others, setting the stage for a fateful duel that tests loyalty, honor, and betrayal within the household. Unlike the original ballad's portrayal, this retelling presents Chandu in a more sympathetic light.
