Nishant

Set in the Telangana countryside of the 1940s, the story centers on a landowning family that dominates a village through fear and influence. When a newly arrived schoolteacher settles there with his wife and child, the lord's brothers forcibly take the wife into their household, leaving the husband to seek help and justice from indifferent authorities and villagers. The film examines how entrenched rural power structures enable the abuse of women during India's feudal era.
