This Malayalam satirical drama, directed by Sathyan Anthikkad and written by Sreenivasan, follows Jayakanthan, a man from Kumbakonam who travels to his late father Narendran's native village in Paruthippara, Kannur district, to claim his inheritance. There he encounters the village council's strict, rule-bound president Vinodini, while a local named Balakrishnan Nambiar grows anxious that Jayakanthan may marry his daughter Swathi and claim the family estate, and Jayakanthan unknowingly befriends Bhargavan, the man who had actually taken over his father's land. The film, released for Onam in 2001, also marked the screen debut of actress Asin.
