Nanban is a 2012 Tamil coming-of-age comedy-drama directed by Shankar, adapted from Rajkumar Hirani's Hindi hit 3 Idiots, which was itself based on Chetan Bhagat's novel Five Point Someone. The story centers on three friends, Venkat, Senthil and Srivatsan, as they set out to track down their old classmate Panchavan Parivendhan, who has been missing from their lives for years. The cast includes Vijay, Jiiva, Srikanth, Sathyaraj, Ileana D'Cruz, Sathyan and Anuya, with brief appearances by S. J. Suryah and Vijay Vasanth.
