Mohalla Assi

Hindi · 2012

Directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi — Sunny Deol

Set in Varanasi's Assi Ghat neighborhood during the late 1980s and early 1990s, this satirical drama follows an orthodox Sanskrit teacher and priest who prides himself on strict religious traditions despite living in poverty. Amid the social and political upheavals of the era, financial pressure from his family eventually forces him to rent a room to a foreign tourist, a decision that unsettles his conservative community and tests his convictions. The story unfolds partly through the debates of a group of friends who regularly gather at a neighborhood tea stall to argue about religion, politics, and the city's shifting culture.

Where to watch in USA

We haven’t been able to find out. The catalogues we check have no entry for this film at all, which is common for older and regional releases — it means nobody could tell us, not that it isn’t streaming.

We check JioHotstar, Eros Now, Sun NXT, Prime Video, ZEE5 and 13 others. If it is streaming somewhere we don’t read, it won’t show up here — tell us and we’ll add it.
