Miss Mary

Hindi · 1957

Directed by L. V. Prasad — Meena Kumari

An out-of-work teacher and a young Christian woman in need of money agree to pretend to be a married couple so she can take a teaching post at a school that only hires wedded pairs. As they settle into their false domestic life, the school's owners become convinced she resembles the daughter they lost many years earlier, while a detective and his comic assistant are separately trying to track that missing girl down. Complications multiply as the two leads' feelings grow, a rival suitor lingers in the background, and another young woman develops an interest in the male lead.
