This 1998 Hindi drama follows Pooja, a young woman from a modest background who marries into a wealthier family and soon faces cruelty from her in-laws and neglect from her husband, who secretly frequents brothels. When he is jailed for murder, a stranger's ominous bargain to save his life leads to Pooja being wrongly branded immoral and cast out of the household. Devastated by further betrayals and losses inflicted by her husband's family, she resolves to confront those who wronged her.
