Set in a Gujarat village during India's dairy cooperative movement, the story follows a veterinary doctor and his colleagues as they try to organize local milkmen into a self-run cooperative dairy. Their efforts run into caste tensions, resistance from a Dalit community leader wary of upper-caste control, and opposition from a private dairy owner who profits from underpaying farmers. As the doctor gains the trust of villagers, including a determined young woman, the cooperative's formation stirs both hope and conflict within the community.
