This 1978 Tamil historical action drama, directed by and starring M. G. Ramachandran, follows a courageous Pandiya prince who sets out to reclaim his kingdom after it falls under Chola rule. Disguising himself as a wandering poet, he travels among the common people, using his verses to awaken their sense of freedom and rally them to his cause. Adapted from Akilan's novel Kayalvizhi, the film builds toward a confrontation aimed at restoring Pandiya rule over Madurai.
