A young medical student in Bangalore falls in love with a bank employee who has moved into her family's home as a lodger, and the two make plans to marry with her parents' blessing. Complications arise from the lodger's entanglement with the family's devoted housemaid, setting off a chain of events that separates the couple and reshapes their lives over the following years. Balu Mahendra's directorial debut, the 1977 Kannada romance features Shoba, Kamal Haasan, Roja Ramani and Mohan.
