This 1947 Hindi musical romance follows Suraj, the son of a wealthy landowner, who falls in love with Jugnu, a young woman without parents. Their relationship unfolds against social barriers of class difference typical of the era's romantic dramas. The film was directed and produced by Shaukat Hussain Rizvi and starred Dilip Kumar and Noor Jehan in the central roles.
