A young man working at a music shop becomes infatuated with a college student after tracing her by a distinctive pair of anklets, and the two grow close despite an early misunderstanding involving a stolen composition at a music competition. Their budding romance is complicated by family baggage: his father, who works at a marriage registry, is deeply opposed to love matches after witnessing troubling incidents there, while her father carries guilt over a harsh critique that once drove a singer to suicide. The couple each secretly visit the other's household hoping to win their families' approval and clear the path for their marriage.
