Set in 1970s Tamil Nadu, this prequel to Jigarthanda follows a disgraced police recruit who is given a chance at redemption by secretly eliminating gangsters tied to a political rivalry over the state's next chief minister. To get close to his assigned target, a feared gang leader in Madurai, he poses as an aspiring filmmaker offering to make a movie about the gangster's life, blurring the line between his cover story and his real mission. The story weaves together cinema, crime and regional politics as his deception unfolds.
