A young violinist from Chennai becomes enchanted with a woman from Kolkata after a chance encounter at a bookstore. She proposes a test of fate: if either finds a 100-rupee note she has inscribed with her name and address within a year, they will marry. Separated and unable to find each other through conventional means, both search desperately while navigating competing romantic interests and family obstacles, leading to a series of near-misses and coincidences.
