Set against the backdrop of Jammu and Kashmir, this 1965 romantic drama follows a wealthy heiress vacationing at a houseboat run by a simple, warm-hearted young boatman who lives with his sister. A bond forms between them across their class divide, complicated by her father's plans for her to marry another suitor and by the challenges of bridging their different worlds. Directed by Suraj Prakash and starring Shashi Kapoor and Nanda, the film is also noted for its Kalyanji-Anandji compositions with lyrics by Anand Bakshi.
