As their longtime family home, a house called Gulmohar, is about to be demolished to make way for a new building, several generations of the Batra family gather for a final farewell gathering before movers arrive. Amid the evening's music and conversation, long-simmering tensions and old grievances among family members start to surface. The reunion becomes an occasion for the characters to confront unresolved parts of their shared history.
