Their feud escalates when a government archaeologist takes interest in the building's historic value and a wealthy developer eyes the property, drawing lawyers, officials and tenants into a tangled battle over who will control the house's fate. The story unfolds as a comic drama about greed, family ties and property disputes in an old, decaying household.
