Detective Feluda's curiosity is piqued when he discovers a desecrated grave belonging to Thomas Godwin, a member of a prominent British family with ties to Calcutta's colonial past. His investigation into the man's history and a valuable pocket watch buried with him puts him in conflict with others seeking the same prize. Set entirely in Calcutta rather than following the detective to distant locations, the film explores the city's Anglo-Indian heritage and the stories of the foreign families who lived there during British rule.
