During a visit to a village, a man named Amar stays with the Srivastav family and clashes repeatedly with their willful daughter Jaya before the two fall in love and marry. After the wedding, Jaya relocates to Amar's home in Bombay, where their neighbor Dharamchand and his wife become part of their lives, and Amar grows suspicious that his wife is involved with Dharamchand. When Amar raises his concerns, Dharamchand denies any wrongdoing but secretly plots to drive a wedge between the couple.
