This 1972 Hindi drama follows Surjit Singh, a hard-drinking truck driver who accidentally kills a farmer while driving recklessly in fog. Rather than sending him to prison, a judge orders him to live with the victim's grieving family and support them financially, forcing him to confront the resentment of the villagers who now see him as an enemy. Over time he adapts to farm life, forms new bonds including a romance with a village girl, and works to protect the family's land and interests from a scheming local landlord.
