Disco Dancer follows a poor street entertainer in Bombay who is discovered and transformed into a flashy disco performer known as Jimmy. As he rises to fame and competes for the top spot in the disco world, he also becomes entangled with the daughter of a wealthy man tied to a painful memory from his childhood, while facing sabotage from jealous rivals and enemies determined to bring him down. The 1982 Hindi-language musical drama became widely popular internationally, particularly in the Soviet Union and other regions, largely due to its memorable disco soundtrack.
