This 2006 Telugu romance follows Devdas, a young man of modest means, who falls for Bhanumati, the daughter of a wealthy New York-based Indian politician, after she travels to India to study classical Carnatic music. When her father discovers the relationship, he schemes to keep the couple apart by taking her back to the United States under the guise of arranging their marriage. Devdas then sets out to reunite with her abroad.
