Two con-artist partners, an older thief and his nephew, steal a valuable necklace and get separated while fleeing the police. They later reunite at a poetry competition hosted by a widowed noblewoman, where the winner is promised marriage to her and the title of Nawab. As the uncle schemes to woo the widow and win the contest, his nephew falls for her devoted maid, while a ruthless local strongman with his own designs on the widow complicates their plans.
