Dayavan

Orphaned after seeing his father killed by police, a boy named Shakti Velu grows up in Bombay's slums with a friend and a compassionate Muslim guardian, developing a deep mistrust of law enforcement. After witnessing further police cruelty, including the death of his guardian in custody, he takes revenge and becomes known as a benevolent gangster, or Dayavan, gradually rising to control the city's criminal underworld. His growing power and marriage to a former sex worker bring him both loyalty and dangerous enemies who threaten his family's future.
