This 1992 Tamil drama follows Muthukaalai, a headstrong young man who comes back to his village after finishing his studies in the city. He becomes entangled with Poochandu, niece of the domineering village headman Ambalam, while also being pursued by his cousin Marikolunthu, who wants to marry him. Tensions escalate when a devastating storm hits the village and Ambalam's harsh, casteist rule leads him to punish Poochandu and her mother, prompting Muthukaalai to openly defy him and marry Poochandu.
