A wealthy merchant's daughter who suffers from epileptic seizures is married off, without her condition being disclosed, to a village doctor already living with his brother and sister-in-law. After the truth emerges, the family accepts her, and she grows deeply attached to her young nephew, whose touch seems to calm her episodes.
