Directed by Rabindra Dharmaraj — Naseeruddin Shah · Smita Patil · Kulbhushan Kharbanda · Rohini Hattangadi

Set in a Mumbai slum, the story follows a mother and her son who fled their village after violence involving her husband and a moneylender. Struggling to survive, the mother relies on two very different men for support and protection, while her son grows up idolizing one of them, a small-time criminal, and eventually starts his own family. The film traces how poverty and dependence on these relationships shape the choices available to both mother and son.
