A struggling working-class family in India faces hardship when their young son accidentally loses his sister's only pair of shoes, forcing the siblings to secretly share a single pair between them to keep attending school. As their father searches for extra work to ease the family's poverty, the boy stumbles upon a school marathon offering a pair of sneakers as a prize, seeing it as a chance to solve their shoe problem. The story, directed by Priyadarshan and drawing inspiration from the Iranian film Children of Heaven, follows the children's quiet struggle to hide their situation from their parents.
