Boy Friend

This 1961 Hindi romantic comedy follows a boy separated from his affluent family who grows up as a small-time thief in order to survive. As an adult he travels to Mumbai to help the daughters of a fellow ex-convict, becoming entangled with the family that runs a theater and unknowingly crossing paths with his own long-lost relatives, including a brother who has become a police inspector searching for him. His efforts to do right by the sisters lead him to give up crime and take up acting, though new financial troubles soon threaten the fragile new life he's built.
