Bhavni Bhavai

Gujarati · 1980 · 135 min

Directed by Ketan Mehta — Naseeruddin Shah

This Gujarati film uses traditional folklore and theatrical performance to explore the theme of caste discrimination. The narrative follows a displaced community as an elder recounts a tale of a royal kingdom, featuring a king's quest for an heir, a foundling child raised by an outcast family, and a confrontation that forces the ruler to reckon with the social hierarchies of his realm.

Where to watch in USA

We checked the streaming catalogues and it isn’t on any service we cover — in any country, not just yours. Films leave and return, so this can change.

We check JioHotstar, Eros Now, Sun NXT, Prime Video, ZEE5 and 13 others. If it is streaming somewhere we don’t read, it won’t show up here — tell us and we’ll add it.
